applications start up speed

After installing the latest updates and sp-1 all of my
applications are very slow to launch. I heard there is a
patch for this trouble and I can't find it.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall=20
Windows XP Hoxfix (SP2) Q811493. Apparently, this
particular Hoxfix is troublesome with some antivirus software.
Microsoft is reportedly looking into this issue.
