xp sp2 and html online help

after sp2 when i access any online help files from GUI such as Picture and
Fax Viewer, notepad all the links and pictures on the help files do not show
instead place holders (little red cross) and the links do not work, but if i
go into the root such as C:\WINDOWS\help\imgprev.chm (notepad.chm) and open
them help files they will display properly and all the links work as well,
how can i fix it? any one? thanks.

I am having this exact same problem, but the steps given by below did
not fix it. Any other ideas?

In which application you're experiencing the problem?
What are the recent configuration changes in your system?
What's the SP level?

I was able to fix the problem by deleting my temporary internet files.
Why is it that the solution to 1/3 of the problems with Windows XP is
to delete IE's "Temporary Internet Files"?
