View Full Version : My Documents folder is missing

Having just loaded the service pack 1 when I click on my
user account the desktop does not load. Using another
account is OK but then when I look in explorer there is
no 'my documents' folder under my account name. If I do a
search for somethng I know is in that folder it shows it
in the search results no problem.

The folder is not hidden or anything, but the desktop.ini
is on the 'my documents' folder so I guess that's whay my
desktop is not initiating.

Any ideas as to how to get the 'my documents' folder
showing again?

Hi Steve,

Look for the folder under:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents
as this is the real location of your files. The "My documents" you normally
see is just a representation of this folder for the user currently logged
on.

If you still can't get in, then you can at least regain those files provided
they were not encrypted. See:
