problem with windows XP

hi, i have this problem with window XP, everytime I click
on a file (for example word file or pdf file) my computer
crash, if instead I open before the application and then
the file inside the application everything is fine. Can
anybody help me in this problem? thank's

Please define "crash" as it applies to this specific situation.

If there is an error message then please include the complete
*verbatim* text of the error message.

And if there is no error message then please describe in detail the
exact sequence of events that occurs when you double click on a file.

We cannot see your computer and there are a vast number of different
events and conditions that could be described as "crash" to say
nothing of the hundreds of thousands of different error messages that
might be produced by these various events and conditions.
