Actually, I would recommend using the lastest Microsoft version of TweekUI,
2.00.1.0. It, and the other powertoys are designed and work for both XP Pro
and Home.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

There are a number of other very usefull programs at this location. I
particularly appreciate the graphing calculator.

Hi,

I think the poster was referring to the Taskbar setting in TweakUI (uncheck
"enable balloon tips"). You may also want to read this:

Thanks Rick,
Found the setting you were talking about in TweekUI but it had absolutly no
effect on the Taskbar. Then checked out that how-to article about disabling
balloon tips in XP, gave it a try and it too had absolutly no effect
either..!! So will I be eternally reminded of what everything is on my
desktop even though I already know what everything does...?

Right click the taskbar item.
Not perfect solutions but the following suggestions should help a bit:

-- Folder Options> View: Towards the bottom of the list, uncheck box for
"Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items.

-- In any shortcut's properties, edit the comments. If you remove all of
the comments a path is displayed instead. If you add a single
punctuation mark such as a period, you'll still get a yellow popup but
it will be very small.
