I installed Service Pack 1 a few months back and noticed a
big drop in performance on some software. Thinking it was
something else I bought Diskeeper and now have that set to
constantly defrag 3 drives one of which is partitioned.
This gave me a small boost, but still have much slower
load times. Norton AV now takes 1 hour 15 mins to scan the
drives whereas it used to take about 40 minutes. Photoshop
takes almost 1 minute to load, the GIS software (ESRI's
Arcview 8.2) takes almost 2 minutes to load.
I have read MS Knowledge base article 815411 which seems
to be about this issue. Has anyone had any experience with
the problem and the possible fixes available?
