I have attempted to save the stored data in the address
book by copying to CD. However the data files will not
write to the CD. I have had the Gateway 600 in for
service and now they want to re-format the HD as I have
the same problem after they repaired it one week ago. Any
ideas on how to save the data? Could it be a software
problem? Thanks Burkie

My address book is here: C:\DOcuments and Settings\UserName\Application
Data\Microsoft
So you can't write this file to a CD? Even if that file is damaged I don't
see why that would prevent its being written to a CD, unless your CD burning
feature of XP is messed up. Try copying this file to a floppy or USB drive
or sending it by email to another computer and then burn it to a CD. And XP
also keeps a backup of the address book, and its in the same location as the
original with the same name except it ends in ".wa~" You can copy that too,
and if the original is address book is corrupted, you can rename the
corrupted file and then change the extension of the backup copy to say
".wab".

There's no reason to loose your address book.
