Windows update stuck on scan for updates

My system automatically does update the criticle updates
fine. When I go into the other updates like windows XP
and drivers updates and try to access them it just takes
me back to the scan for updates screen. I can never get
to a list of the XP or drivers updates. Any help would be
appreciated. Marty

I believe that is normal operation. XP and driver updates are included in
the update process.
