Log-on Problem

Windows XP Pro boots perfectly until it get to the point
where you choose to log-on and load your personal
settings. Windows never boots into the desktop
configuration after your have chosen your log-on
selection. If you enter Control/Alt/Del, it immediately
pprovides your desktop with all of the Icons etc. When
Control/Alt/Del is actuated, however, there is a single,
short, beep heard and then your desktop scrren appears.
Other than this irritating problem Windows XP works
perfectly.
