First, make sure you've installed the latest video
drivers (as well as any other driver for your laptops,
laptops are VERY picky about wanting their specific
drivers).
Next, Control Panel->Display. Click the Settings tab,
click Advanced. Click the Troubleshoot tab, and make
sure the slider is on Full.
Third, run "dxdiag", and make sure anything that can be
is enabled on the video tab.
