Pls help resolve xp evaluation copy issue

I had Win98 on my pc that was giving me headaches. I had
an evluation copy of xp prof from msft that was supposed
to run for 180 days. While upgrading, the xp reformatted
my hardisk and installed xp. Now, I am getting messages
that activiation period for xp is going to exire soon. I
tried to activate, but Miscrosoft site gives me error
msgs that confirmation code is incorrect. I spoke with
support, they say prob evaluatin copy has expired.

How do I uninstall xp and revert to win98? W98 is not on
my hardisk and my hp pc came with preinstalled w98. I do
have the key code for w98 and back up of all files that
were on my pc prior to xp. Please help.
