Win XP and HP Deskjet printer 882c are compatible. You do
not use the CD for this HP. Therefore there is no way to
remove the XP embedded driver.
My problem is that XP doesn't "recall" that it installed
my HP printer which works just fine. But, every time I
boot up, the New Hardware Wizard come on and reports
it "found my HP for installation." MSFT is aware of the
problem and advises to fake it by going through the
installation procedure. No dice. Has anyone else run into
a similiar problem and solved it??
