Hi Steve,
This is a known issue in Windows XP. Some help here:
Why don't my Notification Area icons show or why do they disappear?

Since "latest" what? Deleting your Icon Cache has nothing to do with
this. The icon for the mixer shows up in the Notification Area because
the program is running. Obviously the program isn't running when you
start Windows. Go into the mixer program's options and look for a
setting to start the mixer with Windows.

Yes, the pgm IS running since Mixer.exe shows in the processes (task
manager)
I followed Anando's tip an looked up Kelly's Corner where I got the
savesettings.reg
I hope it will do the trick.
Since "latest" what? - I have no idea what happened everything is as
usual..it worked so far but since last few weeks this particular icon has
problems to show up. Maybe it's time for a fresh XP install if the registry
tweak fails on me.
