I have a HP pavilion 7950 computer which came with
windows ME. It has two cd's. one is a cd writer(IDE-CD
R/RW 8x4x32) and the other is a dvd (Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-
7500). I upgraded from ME to XP Home. The system has not
been able to write to a cd. When I try it asks for me to
place a cd in the drive. I have placed several different
blank cd's into the drive and it will not recognize that
one is there. Help please

enable CD Writing for the drive.

Go to the HP website and see what updated drivers and
utilities they have for your computer.

You most likely need a new driver for your CD-Rom since
you switched to XP.Go to system properties -hardware
tab,and see if you can get the new driver there or go to
web site of CD-rom manufacture. Also make sure your CD-Rom
is compatible with
XP>>>http://www.microsoft.com/hwdq/hcl/search.asp
<<<....Good luck.
