View Full Version : Help and Support Center won't start

When I attempt to use the "Help and Support Center" choice from my Start
Menu, I get and hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing. This has
suddenly stopped working.

I have not recently installed any software.

I have:
ASUS P4GE-V mobo
Intel P4 2.53Mhz
512M PC2700 DDR

Any ideas about how to proceed?

TIA

Joe Dolsak

I've done the registry tweaks, the re-install, etc., etc. The problem still
exists. I guess the next is a repair installation. Any other suggestions?

thanks,

Joe Dolsak

Replacing missing or corrupt files in OS System - Win XP

Place the Win XP CD in the CD drive.
When Autoplay starts just click the X and close it.
Click Start button, select Run and type in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes
and the system should scan for missing/corrupt MS OS files and replace them
with the originals found on the disk.

Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with
correct Microsoft versions.

When I run sfc /scannow, I get a quick window with a quick progress bar and
nothing else. Is something wrong with my XP installation?

Do not start SFC from the Run box.

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
In the resulting Command Prompt window type: SFC /SCANNOW
and hit enter.
