View Full Version : Slow Performance

I know this is a very general question, but the
performance on my Windows XP Home Edition computer has
been excrutiatingly slow, particularly when opening
Outlook Express (takes at least 5 min) or Internet
Explorer. I have a Dell 2300 with a 1.8 GHz Celeron
processor and 128MB of RAM. Performance isn't too bad
once the applications get going. I've tried defrag, but
that didn't result in much of an improvement. Are there
any settings that I can change, or are there other tips
that can help speed up my computer? Thanks

You should boost your RAM to 256 or 512 MBs.

How good is your housekeeping?
1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.
2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.
3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk =
Cleanup.
4. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
