I restart windows and after the bios loads, I receive an
error message saying that windows could not start because
the file \windows\system32\config\system is missing or
corrupt. I have tried to reformat C drive and reinstall
windows several times, but to no avail. I have run Norton
anti-virus with fully up to date virus definitions and
have found no viruses. This problem appears to be the
same as discussed in microsoft knowledge base article
319011, only i run windows XP professional.

Please reply to Brandon at if anyone
has a suggestion. I hope that i will not have to resort
to a 20 lb. sledgehammer to resolve this problem.
