View Full Version : Computer stops responding when I try to save

Hi,
I am using XP Pro and Office 2002. When I click to save a Word document or
an Excel spreadsheet
takes me to the drop down menu to choose where to save the document.
When I click the down arrow the computer hangs for a while, says that
Word or Excel is not responding and then the screen blinks very rapidly
(almost
imperceptibly) and then it works fine.
Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to fix it. There is plenty
of memory (640 GB) in the machine and a P4 processor.
Thanks,
Leonard

What kind of file system? The long obsoleted FATxx or NTFS?

You may want to try some command line switches for Word
and Excel.
Off the top of my head......
Goto start --> run and type winword /regserver. Do the
same for Excel. This will reset all registry values which
should fix the problem.
Good Luck!
