Spooler error message on XP

Does anyone know how to avoid spooler errors when attempting to intall
a LaserJet2300 on W XP Pro (sp-2)? I have downloaded new drivers and
tried "Selective Startup". The printer works when connected to W
98.

Install the drivers BEFORE connecting the printer to the PC.
