win xp sp2 start at start up but screen blank(100% black)

hi.. i am postin tis regardin my bro laptop acer.. when i install the win xp,
it seems ok.. start up for the 1st time, the screen goes normally well..the
task bar is there.. the background is there.. but when i start the windows
for the 2nd time, the windows boot screen is there.. and after that, the
screen goes blank!.. and doesnt show me the screen.. the start up sound is
heard.. and when i shut down, the sound is heard too.. this process keep
continually like that.. on the laptop> windows boot screen>screen
blank>manual shutdown.. hm, seems to have problem with the windows GUI.. pls
help.. thx..~! peace~~!!

Are you using the original installation CDs that came with his Notebook ?, this could be a graphics driver problem

oh iziT? haha..i dunno..mayb i shud ask him bring over the recovery disk..
but i got install win xp sp2 on my toshiba laptop.. without the recovery
disk.. nothing unusuall happened.. thx anyway!~ i will tell u if it succeed!!
