A Seagate Travan 20 (TR-5) tape backup machine functioned
fine under WINNT 4.0 (SP6) using Backup Exec 4.0.b
(OEM). After the operating system change to WINXP Pro,
the XP Pro Backup program does not seem to function
properly. When I try to backup a small number of local
files to tape, the program does not recognize that there
is a tape loaded. It asks for a 'free' tape. The only
way that I have been able to make the Removable Storage
service "see" the tapes is to disable and then enable the
tape drive. What am I missing? I have been unable
to "clear" the tapes by erasing/formatting/initializing.
