I've just posted this message in the software forum, but hadn't noticed
this cosiderabley more active forum. So far as I know, its appropriate
for here, so...

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me out. Every so often
(anything between 1 minute and 3 hours) I get an error, with the
message box titled "javagn.exe - Bad Image" telling me that a .dll file
(different everytime and seemingly randomly picked) is not a valid
Windows image file and that I should check it against my installation
diskette.
Now, to give you some background to the matter. This problem actually
started a few months ago with a file named ipgr.exe. This file, just
like javagn.exe, resided in my system32 folder. It was also listed in
my task manager's process section. I searched for information about it
and found very little beyond that it was a porn auto-dialler - how that
got there, I'll never know... - and that it should be removed, somehow,
normally by using a certain program or as a part of a larger, more
complex fix. I should point out that I'm not an expert on computers and
am normally pretty conservative in dealing with things like this.
However, I eventually opted to be bold, created a restore point, ended
the process and deleted the file. It went without fuss. For all I knew,
this could've been stupid. It appeared to work, though, and I wasn't
troubled for a while. The problem has restarted, though, this time with
javagn.exe, as I have said. This time, I searched for information on it
and found even less, beyond a mention on German forum that appeared to
be similar to this. It was as a part of a system scan log and appeared
to involve the file being infected, and as a result, deleted. So,
eventually, I again decided to create a restore point and delete the
file. This time, though, I got an error telling me that access to the
file was denied. I suspect this is due to the file being in use. This
reminded me that I had ended the process through the task manager with
ipgr.exe before deleting, so I went off to look there. However, it
wasn't there. So, I've a file that appears to be causing trouble that
won't be deleted and has now been shifted out of the system32 folder
onto my desktop, partially to see what happened.
I think this pretty much brings you up to date on matters. I hope I've
not forgotten anything significant from my first post. If you've read
this far, congratulations and thank you. Furthermore, thank you for
offering any help.
