I bought a new ACER laptop with Microsoft XP installed and I am having
serious problems printing. I have an HP Laserjet 2100m and an Epson stylus
870 colour photo printer attached to a switch box. At first i didnt have
problems switching printers with the box. However now when I try to print,
both printers are showing as offline. Now the only way i can print is to
delete both printers, re-install the printer then manually attach the
printer cable which i find is a big headache.
I should point out that I had no problems using these printers
and the switch box printing on my old ACER laptop with Windows 98.
It seems the XP auto-detect is causing problems

Try using the USB interface for the Epson and you can have it always
available. If you remove the connection, connectivity will be
reacquired automatically when you reconnect the USB cable.
