Because no one asked us when my husband and I purchased
this computer for my use last fall at Best Buy, XP was
set up for two users. There is only one user, me. Since
then I've tried without success to go back to one user
but now the files are in such disarray that I'm afraid to
continue.
I've set up a dummy administrator, Homer with a picture
of a duck because I'm trying to lighten up a bit about
this problem. Also, I've been told that for security
reasons the adminstrator and the user should not be the
same. I don't know if this is accurate.
We have a Linksys home network and use Microsoft's
software to manage the network.
I've used DOS, Windows 3.1 thru 3.x. I enjoyed upgrading
and learning new skills required with all. I know there's
good stuff on XP but I'm very frustrated.
I've purchased XP Pro to upgrade hoping that will solve
some of the existing problems but my sense is that first
I have to correct existing problems before I upgrade.
I also left a message with another newsgroup asking how I
can get rid of Windows Messenger.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Barb
