I'll start with the basics. I've got an epox 8rda3+
motherboard, radion 9800 vid/card, AMD 3200 proc. My
motherboard has two lan connections in back. One is
connected to a cable modem( no problems there... it's
working) and the other is linked to my wife's computer via
an ethernet cable. My computer wont register on a
network... we're both running windows XP. it says her
connection is disconnected... local area connection is
unplugged Netgear fast ethernet connection adapter. Now if
I unplug the network connection to her computer @ my
cumputer and plug it into the cable modem then the
connection works and everything is fine, but if I plug it
back into mine then the connection fails. Does anyone have
an idea of what might be going on?? Any help would be
greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! Thanks!

Check your hardware and cabling.

is the cable between your machine and your wife's machine a cross-over
cable?
