To repair a corrupted user profile in Windows XP. Perform
these steps:
Delete the file named 'ntuser.dat' in the profile folder,
and restart. If that old profile can't be fixed. You can
copy the old folders to the new identity. Winkey-Break(or
start/run, type sysdm.cpl), Advanced Tab Profile area,
Settings button. While logged in as some third party
Admin, you can highlight one profile, and "Copy To" (see
button) another profile.
