Deleted Notepad

It appears I inadvertantly deleted "Notepad". I have run
both 'search' and looked in various system files for
something that would lead to my setting up a shortcut.
My 'recycle' has been cleaned, and I have no idea when the
loss occured. Is there some way I can recover this. I do
have "wordpad" available, but at time prefer to
use 'Notepad'.

Try running SFC /SCANNOW on the Start, Run line.
Have your WindowsXP CD ready to insert.
