View Full Version : Windows XP Pro Update?

After receiving the automatic download updates for XP
Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer Service Pack 1 I
have had a lot of problems. #1: Norton Anti-Virus now
states on boot up that it can't access my main drive "C"
and it's unable to get subscription data from Symantec's
server. #2: I no longer can manually update from the
Microsoft Windows Update server since it sit's at 0% for
hours with no results. #3. In my Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/ error
message displayed as "Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name:Group Policy CLSID:{8FC0B734-AOE1-11D1-A7D3-
0000F87571E3}". This wasn't there before the update. #4.
My Limited User Accounts cannot access the Internet with
either Explorer or MSN Messanger. The desktop page is not
accessable and several programs do not display in the
start menu. #5. I am the Admin and I can't access the
Internet Explorer Tools from Internet Explorer link
unless I go through the Control Panel. This makes
absoulutely no sense at all and this just points to
Microsoft Q & A Labs should have tested this update more
prior to launching it's release.

Was Norton Anti-Virus disabled when the XP updates were downloaded and =
installed? If not uninstall the updates, disable Norton Anti-Virus and =
reinstall the XP updates.

Hope this helps.

Norton AntiVirus was disabled prior to installation of
update files. There is a bug somewhere in this update so
I hope Microsoft can resolve this promptly.
