View Full Version : File Sort Order in Windows XP

I am using Windows XP Home with the latest updates
installed. When I use windows explorer or my computer to
look for specific folders or files, the order in which the
folders are sorted are in alphabetical order, however,
they are not always in either descending or ascending
order as they were in older Windows programs. It seems to
be random and is driving me up a wall. I realize I can
right click each time and sort them by name for ascending
order but is there a way to set this up to do so
automatically?

The other question I have is about My Favorites. Windows
XP in trying to do me a favor only initially shows me a
portion of my ver long list of favorites folders, however,
I would rather see the whole list the firt time I click
it. Is there a way to change that feature as well?

I would appreciate any advice you can give me as it seems
I can manage the frustration of the big things but these
little things are making me bonkers!
Thanks
Kim

I'm pretty sure you'll find a tweak to this effect at Kelly's Korner

The term "personalize" makes it sound as though they're giving us
something we want. Uncheck it at Tools \ Internet Options \ Advanced.

Windows XP ...
Is there a way to change that feature as well?
