WinXP SP2 and MS Encarta 96 World Atlas

Everytime I run MS Encarta 96 World Atlas, I get this message error;

Runtime Error!
Program:...s\Microsoft Reference\Encarta 96 World Atlas\MSWORLD.EXE
abnormal program termination
---------------------------------------------------
What exactly cause this error?...it's ok with WinME.

Sounds like it is not XP-compatible. Happens with older software.
