I want to format c drive to delete windows xp off my laptop

I have tried to format c drive and can't because the drive
is mounted and can't dismount drive because there is
another program running in the back ground. I tried to use
diskpart and this doesn't work. I going to try to boot the
laptop up in ms-dos mode with a win 98 emergancy desk. if
anyone out there who has format there c drive with win xp
on it please e-mail me back and help me format my laptop
so that I can clear my disk of win xp I want to install
win 2000 on my system. thanks

During the install process of Win2K you will be given the option to choose
where to install it. At that point you can delelte the current partitionand
create a new one. After that, setup will format the drive.
