Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else has had the issue where you
can get your PC into Standby Mode, but, fans inside your
PC cabinet still run. From the sounds of it, it would
appear the harddrive shuts down and the I can see the
video shutdown, but what's up with the internal fans in my
PC case ??? GGGGRrrrr.. My ultimate goal is to leave it on
all the time and just hit a key on my keyboard to wake it
up.

I have an ASUS A7M266 motherboard ( BIOS 1008 ) with XP
Professional W/SP1. I am running 512K of memory, AMD
XP+2000 Processor with an AGP-V7700 video card ( 2X agp )
( might be swapping out video card soon ). I also have a
3com pci network card, ASUS pci TV Tuner card a DVD Rom
drive along with a LITE CD RW Rom drive.

Any help appreciated !!!

Make sure you've set up your BIOS for an S3 sleep state. And be careful what
you wish for.

I've been using sleep mode in lieu of a shutdown for a long time now. You'll
need to use a ups just in case though. And since your configuration is saved
as your "last known good configuration" at each SHUTDOWN, if you haven't
actually shut down in a few weeks or months, you don't want to use that
option if you really don't have to. Anyway, it would be good practice to
shut down from time to time just to keep a fairly recent last known good.
