I went to Knowledge Base article 289022, How to Edit
Boot.inifile in Win XP. I want to add an OS to the boot
menu. The KB article directed me to start/run and enter cmd
to get to the command prompt. At that prompt it said to
enter bootcfg /?. I did so, but got an error message
stating that bootcfg was not a valid program, etc. anyone
have any idea why?

Roy: Put boot.ini back the way it was before you edited it. Then follow
the directions below by another poster.

How to Add an OS to the Windows XP Boot Menu
by Kent W. England, MS MVP for Windows XP.

"Boot the XP CD and select the first repair option (Recovery Console) and
run the bootcfg /scan command to see if bootcfg can find both OSes. Then
run bootcfg /add to have the boot.ini file rebuilt to boot both. Read
more about bootcfg in Help and Support Center before you boot from the
CD."
