Having used REPLACE.EXE for years in DOS 5 and DOS 6.22,
and later in Win95 and Win98 by adding the file to the
Windows\Command subdirectory and adding SETVER.EXE as a
device driver in the CONFIG.SYS and a line in the
AUTOEXEC.BAT "setver replace.exe 6.22", I was pleased to
note that it is back in XP Home. That's the good news.
But I think it is broken as I get error messages whenever
I try to use it a batch file. Using the proper syntax I
always get an invalid switch message indicating the
destination drive/directory, e.g.,

replace c:\program files\application\alpha\file*.*
f:\backup /a (where there is one space between * and f
which can't be demonstrated in this message).

when executed this results in:
"invalid switch - f:\backup"

Anyone know about this? Overseer, are you looking?
