I bought a new manual "Microsoft Windows XP" ($39.95 plus
tax)
I want to back up some files to a CD. Instructions in the
manual state " go to accessories, systems tools and then
click backup". Only problem, there is no backup avaialable
to click. In other words there is a list of options to
select but "backup" is not one of them.
Any help in solving my problem will be much appreciated.
Sincerely,

T.Dokmanovich

Do you by chance of XP Home? If so, NT backup is not installed by default.
Browse your XP CD to the NT value add folder I believe, and you should find
the backup program to install from there.
If your XP is an oem restore cd provided with the computer that you have,
then you may or may not have this feature available on it.

Also, XP's NT backup program does not support backing up directly to CD, you
will have to backup to hard drive first and then burn to cd from there.

Can you load the file and rename to *.exe? Is your computer manufacturer
purposely cripling it? Have you contacted them for a new disc? Too many
unanswered questions.
