Hangs during Restart or Shutdown

I am not kidding you with this reply; go to the microsoft
knowledge base and you will find this answer. The problem
relates to sound files being played or not being played at
shutdown. So change the sound scheme and see if the
problem disappears. Sound schemes cann bbe changed via
the control panel "Sounds" icon or "Display" themes.
