View Full Version : Windows XP Update Problem

Hello.. have Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002. On
the two occasions i have chosen to update Windows based
on a message stating that new updates are available, both
Word & Excel have subsequently behaved in bizarre
fashion. The first update resulted in none of my Word or
Excel files being readable (a message to the effect they
were not appropriate files), and the second time, it was
as though there was a "ghost in the machine" - drop down
menus would appear automatically, & just generally very
odd behavior resulted. In both cases i rolled back the
updates which resolved the problem. However, am loath to
update again, and as a result am not current.

Any ideas much appreciated..

Make sure you close down all background programs when downloading and
installing and do one update at a time.
