Windows Messenger 5.1

I'm sure I used to be able to paste a link in the form
http://www.microsoft.com/ and it would show as such in my window and my
partner's, and would also function as a link when clicked. But now when I
paste the link it's underlined and blue until I press enter at the end of
the message, when the underlining and blue disappear. Links from my partner
don't show up correctly either. What's going on?

I just found this on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899283 under "Improved
Features":-

. Improves security by using the latest secure components.
Additionally, URL links are now non-clickable. This behavior is by default.

So it seems Microsoft have the opinion that making URL links non-clickable
is an improvement......

Greetings,

This is by design. But you can turn it off.
To turn it back on, simply download and run the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/engagelinks.reg

You'll need to close and reopen all conversations currently open to see the change.
