Have around 30 Windows XP Pro machines to upgrade to SP2.

Error come up 'Access is denied' during SP2 update.

Installation then rolls back and asks to reboot.

Any suggestions/thoughts etc greatly appreciated.

Hi Maurice

You have to examine the 2 logs:

Setupapi.log and scvpack.log

They can maybe give you an idea, what is wrong.

Search for following textstring "Install error" in scvpack.log and "Error 5"
in setupapi.log.

I think that you will find some "access denied" in the registry, if that is
the case, you must give "Local Administrator" and "SYSTEM" Full Control to
the keys.

Hope you can use the information, good luck !
