Direct x 9.0a and patch Q814033 refuse to install

When I go to install Direct x 9.0a and patch
Q814033_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe

3/5/2003

Version:
Q810433



It tells me that these are NOT MS certified programs and
refuses to install them

I thought patch Q814033_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe was supposed
to fix that problem but if MS refuses to let me downlaod
the fixing patch how can I fix the problem that MS
created for me?

Hi Ron,

Go to Start/Run and type in CMD. At the command prompt, type the following
commands, pressing ENTER after each line:

net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc

Then try the updates again.
