cannot install updates

I have downloaded a range of updates (and tried varying
the range) but they will not install, the sytem just
gives me a message saying they have failed to install and
to try again, which produces the same result etc
etc .........

Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2 Delete the contents of the
Catroot2 folder. Try Windows Update.
