I have an application made by MFC. Recently i have discovered a bug when i am
using Win Xp SP2. When i click file->open in my application, the open file
dialog appears. When i hover my mouse over a file to select it, sometimes the
whole application gets shut down. It seems to happen when i try to open files
from the desktop only. Why is this happening?.

Hold on before calling it a bug. Two things to try real quick and report
back the results...

Reboot into safemode and test the problem.

Try logging into a different user account and again test the problem.

This has happened on many different machines with different user accounts.
Haven't tried the safe mode thing yet but i will. It seeems strange that it
this does not occur on any other operating system except windows xp
SP2......without SP2 it does not seem to occur. It is rather strange to me so
thats why its difficult to find the real cause. I have looked and cannot seem
to find a similar problem anywhere else.......what do you think?

Contact the makers of the application for help with their product. This
may be a known issue and they may have a workaround and/or a patch.

Then it is up to you to make your software work with the operating
system. You should probably post in a newsgroup for developers or look
on MSDN for a support contact.
