Periodically, after boot my laptop (Dell), PCTSPK.EXE
utilizes 100% of my CPU and will remained pegged until I
terminate the process. My laptop is running XP and is
completely patched and updated. Can anyone point me in
the right direction?

Modem driver I think. Find the file and rename it if you dont need the
modem. Also disable the service if you dont need it.
Start>>Run>>Services.msc Enter. Right click on unneeded services and select
Properties>>Manual>>Apply>>OK

The gene pool needs more chlorine.

Hi ,
Thank you for posting!
The PCTSPK.EXE is a third party modem software. It is used by "PC Tel"
(Rockwell) modems. Go to Add/Remove Programs to check if it is listed. If
so, remove it. In addition, run msconfig and click the Startup tab to check
if the corresponding program is listed. If so, you may uncheck the program
to disable it in Startup group.
To resolve the problem completely, you may contact the manufacturer to
check if there is any update which specifically addresses this problem.
Hope this helps!
Have a great day!
Sincerely,
Damon Xu
