System Crash when attempting Windows Update and System Restore Error

When I try to download and install Service Pack 1
(express), my system crashes in XP. Why is this and what
can I do about it? My requests for help are used up (no
charge support). Also my System Restore feature gives me
the following error message: "rstrui.exe- Entry Point Not
Found. The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located
in the daynamic link library WINSTA.dll"
