1/ I have WindowsXP
1a/ I have Nero 6
2/ I download movies from TV to my HD.
3/ I want to burn these movies to a DVD.

After weeks of frustration all I can do is to "convert" the downloaded MPEG
TV movie on the HD to some other file using a program "mpeg2Decoderzxmedia"
which Nero then REJECTS!!
I am about to LEAP off a tall building!

Your frustration has nothing to do with Microsoft, Windows, or Windows Movie
Maker.

Your problem is you don't know how to use Nero.

Before you jump, read the Nero instructions, that should solve all your
problems.

if the recorded file is mpeg2 try using TMPGenc DVD Author, it'll
probably complain about the bit rate being too high but just chose
ignore and process the file and burn within dvd author, should only take
a few minutes. should play ok in a normal dvd stand alone player.
if you want to edit out commercials beforehand use videoredo, quick and
reliable

Thanks, I read the manual that came with the software, and it works fine
now.
But there is a problem with the lip sync because the sound is not
synchronised with the image, and this is annoying when people speak.
Why does this occur?
I have a Pentium4 1.7Gz with 512mb RAM.
Regards,Frank

Not using a proper analogue to digital convertor, with time base corrector
to keep the audio and video signals linked.

Thanks, but it seems OK now. When I record movies to DVD I exit all other
applications before.
On another point, I am limited to movies of about 90 minutes because the
DVDs will not hold more and the blanks for the double layer type are very
expensive. Are the double-sided DVD blanks still available. I remember
seeing some rental DVDs like this a while ago?

Not that I've seen around.
If you really lower the quality you could get a few hours onto a dvd, may
not be able to watch it to well, but 90 mins is about the max for quality.

I just wondered that if DVDs were burned at a much slower speed this would
reduce the lip-sync problem?
Also, why are the double-layered DVDs about 3 times the price of the usual
7.4gb ones?

I doubt it.
They are much newer and not as popular, they'll gradually come down in
price.
