Hello,
I have a new install of W-XP prof. w/SP2.
I have a HP psc 1209 MF printer.
For nearly 2 wks. I've been unsuccessful in getting the s/w to install
correctly, I am not having problems w/drivers.
**Does anyone have a HP psc MF printer and been able to install the s/w
completely???**
**If you had problems and finally was able to get a successful install, what
was the remedy/fix???**
I have spent far to much time w/this problem... and HP definitely needs a
fix that works!!!
I spent 3 hrs. with atech support person yesterday at HP, and everything was
troubleshooted. We ran the cleaner/scrubber and checked settings and I
installed the s/w via her support, not following the poster supplied w/unit.
**Well, the install failed!!**
Before that I spent wks. via HP email support and nothing worked, the s/w
install will not complete, I was even sent a new install disc from HP and
that did not help me!!
I've had this printer 6 mos., and it does work great, I love it, however
when I bought it I was running 98-se and I never had any install problems. I
installed it at least 3 times on W98-se. I know how the drivers and entries
look in the DM, it's the same multitude of entries.
The s/w install begins w/copying and validating and more copying etc...
finally, you get to the point where you plug in the usb and turn the unit
on. Windows does it's part and all the drivers are loaded, I can see this
in the system tray, but the next very critical part of the install fails
which is a linking to the drivers to the HP s//w and the complete
installation into the HP Director just doesn't happen, the icons for print,
scan, etc... are suppose to pop into the HP Director, next the items are
suppose to be entered into add/remove programs and into the Start menu,
etc... *my install fails*!!
Finally, last nite, via trial and error, first I manually did the printer
install and next the scanner from the DM, I had yellow exclamation points!!
The HP Director does not work, however I sent launchers to my desktop and
placed on my quick launch for the printer and scanner. I'm printing and I
can scan using the Windows wizard, my drivers are working just fine!!
Today, I opened the HP Image Gallery s/w and I can even scan, clicking scan
button.... so, I'm now finally setup pretty good.
However, because of the failed installed, and I did the drivers manually via
the DM linking them via trial and error and Windows did help me, TG!!
Anyway, done of the HP install shows in the Control Panel add/remove, etc...
Sorry, this is so long, but I can't be the only one that can't get this HP
s/w & driver pkgs. to complete!!
