Yahoo messenger failure

I am using XP
every time I use yahoo messenger, and try to vie maybe a profile or email
from the messenger tools menu, it gives me a failure and says path does not
exist. please check path...
can someone give me insight as to why this might be happening.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling yahoo messenger already.
