Hi all
One of my PCs has a problem with IE 6 (latest update). Once in a while it
hangs, sometimes seconds sometimes minutes. I am unable to troubleshoot the
PC so here we are.
I have a downloaded copy of XP2, not expanded. one file on a CD.will it run
the repair/reinstall? and as I understand all applications, settings and so
on will remain on the PC unchanged. Is that correct
thanks

That is correct, but installing Service Pack 2 on a troubled computer is
unlikely to fix the issue. In fact, it may make Windows unusable. Back
up your data first if you are determined to do this (not recommended).
Otherwise, consider taking your machine to a professional computer
repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA) and having them
fix it for you.

err...??? thanks.
let me try rephrase: will reinstalling SP2 do a reinstall of IE 6? The
reason I ask is that pre-SP2 there was a repair option.
thanks

You may want to try reinstalling Internet Explorer first. See this article.

Thanks Jim
I had read that article and the reason I'm asking all of this is that it
specifically says that XP and XP SP1 you can repair/reinstall but SP2 says
reinstall only. I am just trying to make sure
