I installed Windows XP Pro on a new hard drive after a
particularily ugly series of error messages that survived
all attempts to repair short of a complete re-install. I
installed all of my other programs...everything worked
fine. Then, while working in DreamWeaver (after doing so
successfully for 4-6 hours) I got the error
message "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services...." and
DreamWeaver shut down. I brought it right back up and I
continued to work in it for another hour...everything is
fine. During this time I was also using ACDsee and it all
worked fine. I shut down the machine for about 30 minutes
and when I started it back, everthing I tried to open gave
me the same error and promptly shut down. I booted from
my XP CD and accomplished a windows setup. Now, some
things work (Quicken) but most (DreamWeaver, ACDsee, etc)
don't. My shortcuts will get me to the internet, but
typing anything in the address bar shuts me down with the
same error. I need, either some heavy duty help or
intensive therapy...I have recurring fantasies about the
authors of XP being drawn and quartered.
