I am using a program that prints to a label printer. Problem is every time I
use it to print, it automatically sets the label printer as the default. I
have to switch the default back to our regular printer every time. Is there a
way to prevent this?

That's often a fault of the printer drivers provided by the manufacturer...
the drivers are insisting they must be default. Unfortunately there's not
much an individual can do apart from politely contact the printer
manufacturer and request they rewrite their drivers.

Actually this sounds more like an application problem. Some applicatations
want to print to a specific driver written for the application. If the
application is changing the default printer, then you will have to talk to
the application writer. You should be able to test this by printing to the
label printer from another application like Word or Excel and see if they
change the default printer.
